Workshop led by Christina Ciupke and Ayse Orhon
Description:
The workshop of Christina Ciupke and Ayse Orhon will introduce practices and composition principles which they used and developed during the working process of At Close Distance.
Working in duos, through moving and being moved they will propose different qualities of encounters. With focused movement material the workshop aims to explore the intensity of physical proximity and distance.
Open for everybody who is interested in exploring movement, gaze and kinesthetic awareness.
Biographies
Christina Ciupke:
As choreographer and performer Christina lives in Berlin. She develops her projects with artists from the field of dance and other art fields. Within that specific areas and situations arise where closeness and distance, intimacy, sense of time and the being together of audience and performers are constantly negotiated. A longstanding collaboration unites her with the choreographers Nik Haffner, Mart Kangro, filmmaker Lucy Cash, the visual artist Lars Ø Ramberg, the composer Boris Hauf and dramaturge Igor Dobričić. From 2003 to 2004 Christina was a guest artist at the Centre for Art and Media Karlsruhe (ZKM). 2013 she obtained a Master of Arts in choreography (AMCh) at the Amsterdam School of the Arts. Her works tour nationally and internationally. In the yearbook Tanz 2014 Christina received the award Hoffnungsträgerin along with 33 other artists. From 2016 she is with Tanzfabrik Berlin involved as artist in the European network apap – advancing performing arts project.
Ayse Orhon:
Ayşe Orhon works as a performer since 2001. She has danced with Aydın Teker and Emmanuelle Huynh also collaborated with visual artist Gülsün Orhon. She is a graduate of Artez (HKA) in 2001 and the Master of Choreography program in Amsterdam (AHK). Orhon performed her works in diverse festivals in Europe such as Can You Repeat? (2007), hava (2009), ÇOK (2010), folk (2011). Since 1997 Orhon has been working in the field of movement and movement therapy. She has been a guest lecturer at CNDC Angers and at two Dance Departments in Istanbul since 2002.
