See what you say: a writing workshop

Dance-writing is firstly a practice of honing observation skills. In this workshop we will practice watching closely and translating what we see onto paper. Generating an abundance of text becomes not unlike an improvisational movement practice—cultivating our ability to respond to rapid signals in real-time. After spilling words onto the page, we approach from the opposite angle, learning tools to edit, shape, and cut. By crafting responses that are refined, legible, and thickly descriptive, participants make the dance come to life through their writing.
