Circe – Experimental Platform for Dance and Theatre and embassy of Israel presents “Project 48 Dance” with Israeli artistic director Dana Ruttenberg.

“Project 48 Dance” is a creative blind-date adventure which brings in various artists to create original dance works in two 24 hour rounds, which has been part of the “Batsheva Hosts” boutique performance series in Israel as well as various academic institutions.

“Project 48 Dance” consists of two 24 hour “rounds” of creation: An initial raffle determines the creative teams. Each group comprises a choreographer, a “Second Eye” (Dramaturg/Director/Dance Researcher) and a varying number of dancers. Next, the parameters for creation are drawn. These include spatial and thematic constrictions/challenges. From then until the public showcase, each team has 24 hours to create a Dance work to be performed live.

More details: First day starts with a raffle and rehearsal which determines the ensembles. Through the next 24 hours, in 3 rehearsal sessions, the pieces are being formed. Similarly the second set of 24 hours starts right after the first show. There is another raffle and new groups have another 24 hours before the second open show.

Circe in collaboration with Dana Ruttenberg wants to bring this experimental dance project to Georgia, to share it with local dancers, choreographers, performers and general audience who are interested in contemporary choreography and performance as well as contemporary art in general. This is an amazing chance for everyone who loves dance because projects like this have never been done before in Georgia.
We would like to announce an open call for 16 professional dancers, 5 choreographers and 5 directors. Participants will be chosen from their application by the choreographer.
